In every style that it's practiced, it's a highly advanced kata that requires a lot of physical fitness and even some acrobatics in order to perform well. But when done well, it will almost certainly take a high place in any competition.

https://brawnysdojo.com/ https://www.patreon.com/brawnysdojo The favorite kata of one of Isshinryu's foundational masters - Choki Motobu; Naihanchi kata is a very old form found in many styles of karate. It differs in Isshinryu by the stance of the toes turned inward, and starting to the left instead of the right. For as simple as the kata is, it is very difficult to master and has a very versatile bunkai. This kata is also great for working on leg strength and balance. If you know it, I highly recommend trying it across a 2x4 or 4x4 plank of wood!

It incorporates samples of all of the other katas learned before it and I believe it to have a very practical bunkai (application). I'll have to make further videos on it in the future.
